Former BBC technology boss, John Linwood, was sacked last summer after his £100m project failed to move the BBC away from using video tape.
His project, the Digital Media Initiative (DMI), was set up in 2008 but was halted last year having never become “fully operational” (BBC).
Linwood, who was paid £280,000 per year for his role as technology chief at the BBC, was said by director general Lord Hall to have “wasted a huge amount of tax payers’ money” and Hall expressed “serious concerns” about how it had been managed.
