PRINCE2 Agile – have you heard the latest news?

AXELOS®, the owner of the PRINCE2® project management methodology, has announced that a number of examination institutes have been selected to deliver the new PRINCE2 Agile certification. The examination institutes are:

APMG
BCS
CSME
EXIN
Loyalist
PeopleCert

PRINCE2 Agile is the first major development in AXELOS’s project and programme management (PPM) portfolio. AXELOS is developing a best-practice guide and qualification that blends the best from PRINCE2 with Agile.

PRINCE2 Agile will be offered as an extension to those who have already achieved PRINCE2 Practitioner certification. It will also be of interest to those who have achieved an MSP Practitioner or higher certification.

The new PRINCE2 Agile guidance and qualification will cover the interactions between PRINCE2 and Agile, and how each needs to be adapted to pursue an integrated approach to project management.

Personally, I see this initiative on AXELOS’s behalf as key to the future of best practice, not only in the field of project management, but also in the field of service management where Agile is of growing interest. In the future, organisations will be looking to use multiple approaches to deliver projects and programmes on time and on budget.
